Bali Airport/Visa Guide – Last Updated on January 1, 2025
When arriving in Bali, there are a few essential steps you need to complete, and having everything ready in advance will save you time and stress. Here’s the order we handled things, with tips to make your arrival smooth:
I entered Bali as a Canadian citizen (Canadian passport) from Haneda Airport in October 2024. Here’s what the process was like for me:
Preparation: Keep Everything Organized
We ended up screenshotting everything on our phones and saved the images to a specific photo folder, so it was easy to find when needed.
1. Proof of Exit Ticket
Depending on your flight, you may be required to show proof of an exit ticket from Bali. Here’s what happened to us:
- At our layover in Ho Chi Minh, a Vietjet worker asked us for proof of our outbound ticket from Bali.
- If you don’t have one, they told us that the Indonesian border worker might make you purchase an exit ticket on the spot, and they won’t let you enter Indonesia without it. So, make sure you have this ready.
2. Health Pass
As of August 2024, a Health Pass is required for entry.
- We used this site: https://sshp.kemkes.go.id/ to get a health pass in advance
- Fill out the info, and you’ll receive a QR code at the end. Screenshot this QR code—it’s free.

- Once you land and reach the exit section of the airport, you’ll notice a crowd of people likely trying to get their health pass sorted on their phones. Skip the line by having your pass ready and head toward the gate for visa + customs.

3. Visa
For entry into Bali, you need to arrange your visa in advance:
- Visit https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/ to fill out your e-Visa.

- At the airport, follow signs for the e-Visa line. It’s an automated process where you scan your passport at a machine, and you’re good to go—no need to visit a border worker for a stamp.

4. Customs Declaration
Before leaving the airport, you’ll need to complete a customs declaration:
- There’s a QR code you can scan to fill out the customs form.
- Once completed, they’ll scan your QR code at customs, and you’re all set!
