Creating the life of your dreams is a path of intention, reflection, and action. We can obviously dream of a perfect future, but it’s more about actively building it step by step. Here are some key lessons I’ve learned on my path.
Visualize the Life You Want
The first step is thinking about what you want your ideal life to look like. This can mean:
- Mood boarding and brainstorming what attracts you (I LOVE Pinterest for this)
- Dreaming big without limiting yourself
- Thinking ahead: What excites you about your future
By visualizing your goals, you start identifying what truly matters to you.
Figure Out the Steps to Get There
It’s one thing to dream, but another to put those dreams into motion. Surround yourself with inspiration and opportunities to attract luck:
- Follow the right people and network in spaces aligned with your goals
- Seek out checklists, stories, and mentors to understand how others got there
- Avoid the MLM-type business coaches promising quick results—growth takes time and intentionality
Just Start (You’ll Never Feel Fully Ready)
There will never be a perfect time to start. You might never feel 100% ready, and that’s okay.
- Look ahead and have a general direction of where you’re going
- Trust the journey and keep moving forward—progress is built ONE STEP at a time
Your Plans Will Change (And That’s Okay)
Along the way, your goals and plans will evolve. The key is to be honest with yourself:
- Are your decisions driven by fear or courage?
- Embrace the changes and pivot with purpose, not panic
I’ve pivoted so many times in finding the path that’s right for me. I went from being a traditional science student working toward a master’s program, getting accepted, and then ditching it entirely to build my design business. Yes, it was scary, but now I get to travel full-time while working on my own terms and schedule. Each pivot felt uncertain, but it brought me closer to the life I truly wanted.
Stick to Something and See It Through
It’s easy to get stuck in endless planning and what-ifs. But commitment allows for true progress.
- It’s okay to try different things, but give your efforts time to grow (set a duration where pivoting is OFF LIMITS)
- Sometimes, we waste months waiting to feel ready or not committing—but growth only happens when you go for something consistently
You Can Do Anything, But Not Everything
It’s tempting to chase every opportunity, but focus is key:
- Pick a few things to prioritize and align your weekly schedule around them
- Focus ensures that the energy you pour in gets meaningful results
Stop Thinking About Doing It—Just Do It
Saying “I’ve been meaning to”… is just wasted breath. Stop talking about your plans and start making them happen. Failing quickly is better than doing nothing 🙂
Check In With Yourself Often
It’s easy to get distracted by what others are working on or chase the next shiny thing. Stay grounded by regularly reflecting on:
- Where you are now versus where you want to be
- What’s true and important to you—not what looks appealing on the surface
You’ll have doubts, and your goals may change, but sticking to your path will bring you closer to a life that truly aligns with who you are and what you want.
