Favorite Travel Makeup Essentials: Compact and Practical

When it comes to packing makeup for travel, I’m all about keeping things easy, compact, and mess-free. Over the years, I’ve found a few key products that have become my go-tos whenever I’m on the move. If you’re like me and prefer a streamlined beauty routine while traveling (or just aiming to be a makeup minimalist), here’s what’s always in my makeup bag:

Stick Format Everything from Merit Beauty

If you haven’t tried stick-format makeup, let me tell you—it’s a game-changer, especially when traveling. Merit Beauty has mastered this, and their products are now my ride-or-die essentials.

Foundation Stick: The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick

Light, buildable coverage that blends like a dream, perfect for quick touch-ups. I use their Brush No. 1 to blend it out.

Brush: Flush Balm Cheek Colorhttps://www.meritbeauty.com/products/flush-balm

Their brush pairs perfectly with the foundation stick, and it’s compact enough to bring along without taking up too much space.

Multi-use products are a traveler’s best friend. BTW this stick works on both cheeks and lips as a light stain.

Highlighter Stick: Day Glow Highlighting Balm

Adds a natural glow with just a swipe—perfect for achieving that fresh, dewy Hailey Bieber glazed donut look on the go.

Lash Extensions for Hot Destinations

If you’re heading somewhere warm, lash extensions are a lifesaver. When it’s hot and humid, the last thing I want to worry about is applying eyeliner or mascara. With lash extensions, I can skip those steps and still feel put-together without the hassle.

For this look, ask for a “wispy cat eye with CC or D curl”

But if it’s harder to get quality lash extensions at your destination (or you don’t want to risk trusting someone new), I’d recommend packing waterproof eyeliner and mascara as a backup. Waterproof formulas can withstand the heat and any unexpected pool or beach days.

The Compact Lash Curler from Muji

Muji’s travel-sized lash curler is a must-have. It folds almost flat, taking up way less space than a traditional curler, which is perfect for saving room in my makeup bag. Plus, it’s great for almond-shaped eyes, which can be tricky to find a good curler for. This little tool is a total gem.

Makeup Remover Balm Over Oil

Currently using: Duo The Cleansing Balm

When I travel, I always bring a makeup remover balm instead of oil. The reason? It’s less likely to spill, and I don’t have to worry about liquid limits in my carry-on. Plus, it’s just as effective at removing makeup without the risk of a mid-flight mess in my bag.
