As a digital nomad, my “office” is wherever I set up for the day—whether that’s a cozy café, an Airbnb, or a quick layover at the airport. Having the right tools makes all the difference, so I’m sharing what’s always in my purse to keep my work life running smoothly on the go.
1. Laptop Stand
I never leave without my laptop stand. It’s a game-changer for ergonomics, allowing me to work comfortably at almost any table height. This is especially handy in Airbnbs, where the workstations are rarely at the right height for long work hours.
2. Apple Keyboard
This lightweight keyboard is perfect for travel. Its slim profile allows it to fit neatly inside my laptop sleeve, and it’s easy to pack along with my MacBook without adding much bulk.
3. Laptop Sleeve
I use a laptop sleeve with plenty of compartments to organize my gear. Since I carry a Le Pliage bag (which has almost no internal organization), the sleeve adds much-needed pockets and utility, keeping my tech and accessories tidy.
4. Logi MX Master 3S Mouse
As a designer, I rely on my mouse for detailed work, and this one is my favorite. It’s not too heavy, making it great for travel, and the ergonomic design prevents wrist pain. I especially love the dual scroll wheels, which are perfect for navigating complex design files.
5. MagSafe Phone Stand
My MagSafe phone stand comes in handy for filming content, attaching cards, or simply propping my phone up while I work or get ready in the washroom.
6. Sunscreen Stick
On-the-go SPF is a must, and I love that this sunscreen stick is solid. I don’t have to worry about liquid limits when flying, and it’s easy to reapply throughout the day.
7. Travel Hand Soap
Solid hand soap is a travel essential, especially after experiencing restrooms without soap (which happens often when I travel, like in the Philippines). It’s compact, mess-free, and a lifesaver when you need it.
8. SPF Lip Balm
Everyone needs SPF, and that includes your lips. This balm is always with me for quick touch-ups while I’m out and about.
9. MacBook M2
The MacBook M2 is the heart of my digital nomad setup. It’s amazing for editing, designing, and browsing the web. It’s lightweight but powerful enough to handle my work needs, making it perfect for travel.
10. Longchamp Le Pliage
This bag is my go-to for travel. It’s accepted on most airlines (even budget ones like Flair), and it’s incredibly lightweight (weighing next to nothing!). I also love that it folds into a small square, so I can bring it as an extra bag if needed. The versatility of the Le Pliage means it can easily switch between a beach bag, work bag, or gym bag—it’s basically my everything bag.
11. USB-C/Lightning Adapter
Because you can never have too many adapters! This is essential for keeping my devices charged and connected no matter where I am. I carry 1 small charging block and USB-C cable, and this adapter helps with all my Apple devices.
12. Coach Pencil Case
I keep all my pens, pencils, and tech accessories organized in this sleek pencil case. It’s stylish and functional, which is exactly what I need when I’m on the go. I thrifted this in Tokyo, Japan for only $20. What a steal (blog post for thrifting tips coming soon)!
These essentials keep me productive and organized, no matter where I set up shop. Whether I’m working on client projects, editing videos, or jotting down ideas, these items make my travel work life so much easier!
